These homeowners knew what they wanted for their new bathroom design and with the help of our designers, the result was a gorgeous bathroom for their family to enjoy for years to come. Ocean blue cabinets to give a bold pop of colour. A fun patterned black & white tile floor design accented with a herringbone statuario marble mosaic shower tile. Adding in as much storage as possible with built-in custom shelving and shower niches and there we have it. Another ECR bathroom renovation vison comes to life.

The Envision Custom Renovations team recently had the thrilling opportunity to collaborate with none other than Drew and Jonathan Scott for an episode of Property Brothers. Calgary parents Allison and Ryan knew they wanted a change, and this renovation turned out to be everything they hoped for and more.

The Project

With two kids under two years and a shortage of space, Allison and Ryan were in need of an upgrade. Finding the right ready-made house within budget proved tricky, so it was time to settle on a 1,200 sqft fixer-upper for a full-scale renovation. The couple knew they wanted high ceilings, an open plan, a practical mudroom, a contemporary kitchen, and plenty of storage space. Prior to renovation, their new property was a bit cramped, stylistically dated, and lacking in natural light. The kitchen also overlooked the driveway, not ideal for a mom who wants to keep an eye on her kids in the backyard. Drew, Jonathan, and the Envision team had their work cut out for them.

Transformative Changes

As construction began on this ambitious reno, Envision co-founder Alan Hrehirchuk was more than up to the task of giving Allison and Ryan the home of their dreams. After eliminating the unneeded walls, our team vaulted the ceilings in the kitchen to provide a major boost in spaciousness and wow factor. Not only this, but we constructed a sizeable new garage in their backyard and repurposed the old one as an addition. This allowed for maximum functionality with a mudroom and upgraded space for storage. The kitchen was moved to the back of the house to overlook the yard (which, by the way, we outfitted with a beautiful deck), and the front door was relocated to connect with the mudroom and allow extra light in with a new window.

A New Look for a New Home

An upgraded layout should always be matched with an upgraded look. The exterior walls, formerly dressed with unsightly teal cladding, were painted a timeless earth-tone grey, while going with light interior walls and hardwood flooring helped to amplify incoming natural light. As per the couple’s request, we created a modernized kitchen with an island, unique marble mosaic backsplash, and farmhouse style pendant lighting in the dining area. Foliage and natural materials also lend the space a lovely organic feel. On the whole, Ryan and Allison’s new home more than meets their functional needs while exuding both character and contemporary flare.

As the brothers pointed out in their own article on the project, this renovation showed us once again that “customizing a home, no matter the scope of the job, is better than purchasing an expensive turnkey property.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!

With the right property and the right crew, renovation can be a life-changing experience that redefines the feel of your home. You deserve a living space tailored to meet your needs and those of your family, so contact us for a complimentary in-home consultation with our team.

In this full home renovation, we brought out the beauty of the original oak hardwood flooring by re-sanding and clear-coating it, as well as adding additional areas. In the sitting area, our clients dreamed of a fireplace but wanted to maximize the space. We created a custom corner fireplace with a lift-up bench and floating shelves. We opened up space even further by removing walls between the kitchen and the living room. In the kitchen, we created custom cabinets with gunmetal grey slab doors, combined with ebony, enhancing the look with Waterfall Caesarstone countertops. We also customized the media cabinets and added new interior doors and trim throughout.

This bright, open kitchen is a family dream. The stunning KraftMaid Geneva Maple Square cabinets are complemented by the Vico Stone countertop. The oversized island is the perfect prep area, providing additional storage for all kitchen necessities. The attention to detail in both the design and project completion is seen in every aspect of this kitchen. From the built-in dog dishes to the trimmed-in electrical outlets, to the open shelf concept by the stove, this kitchen is truly the heart of the home. The Armstrong Duality Premium Plus G6222 Hudson Green flooring is ideal for quick cleanups of any kind.

The owners of this Sirocco home knew exactly what they wanted when they asked Envision Custom Renovations to upgrade their En-Suite washroom. Armed with photos of modern bathrooms, all with a clean, white theme, we were more than able to create what they envisioned. With a large, glassed-in shower and separate tub, the room evokes a spacious, spa-like feeling. Pure white subway tiles lend a crisp, clean feeling, while a gently-veined marble floor and walnut wood cabinets ensure the room is not too clinical. Strategic vertical and horizontal drawers make the most efficient use of storage space, allowing the washroom to remain clutter-free. Meanwhile, the entrance is a modern take on a barn door. Misted glass doors slide away to reveal bedroom closets while offering privacy in the bathroom.

The homeowners wanted an outdoor retreat that was an extension of their home. We designed and built a large 500-square foot upper and lower Trex deck. The upper deck is trimmed with privacy glass that ties into the brick barbecue area. The casual sitting space is complete with a glass railing to the lower deck, to maintain the flow between the two zones. Custom vinyl privacy screens, highlighted with LED accent lighting on the posts, line the lower deck with a stunning brick focal point in the center. The lighting continues on the stairs, to allow for the tranquil space to be utilized day or night.

When the owners of this Woodbine Boulevard home wanted a complete renovation, we retained the original home’s best feature – the existing golden oak hardwood, finished on site. To update it, we feathered in new hardwood, sanded it down and stained it a medium brown. We restructured the kitchen, grouping large appliances together to allow for more ease when cooking. A large island with a wine rack incorporated into its design, a wall oven, Nougat Caesar Stone countertops with subway tiles, and soft-closer doors and drawers all work together to achieve functional luxury. Throughout the home, we added new interior doors, trim, baseboards, new knock-down ceilings, LED pot lights on dimmers and soft grey walls. We built a new main washroom and a new En-Suite with a free-standing tub. We completed the new look with a new carpet, a new railing and spindles.

In the urban community of Marda Loop, this basement development definitely keeps up with the sleek look and feel of the neighbourhood. Perfect for entertaining, a wet bar was added which features beautiful maple-stained cabinets and under cabinet lighting. A large media room with built-in speakers and a gym area complete the open concept entertaining area of this basement. A large bedroom and bathroom with a full tile shower and upgraded plumbing fixtures complete this modern basement.

This large, open kitchen features a large island with lots of cupboard space and many unique features throughout the kitchen. Some of these great features include a coffee station hidden behind a cabinet door which is on a pull-out drawer, a Lazy Susan with pull-out shelves for easy access, a pull-out shelf for large utensils, a pull-out spice cabinet, a charging station drawer and a pull-out for garbage and recycling bins. Another feature is the ceiling height – a unique vertical kitchen backsplash with a brick lay pattern.

Wall speakers were added to this kitchen with a wall-mounted IPAD to control the audio. The outdated kitchen flooring was changed from terra cotta tile to hardwood that matches the existing site finished hardwood throughout the main floor. The new hardwood was feathered into the existing hardwood flooring. This renovation was completed with a beautiful stone feature wall that is the main focal point when you walk into this home.

The vision for this basement development was to create a useful space for the customer including a soundproof music room, large bathroom with steam shower, gym and media room. We added a glass wall between the music room and gym to create an open feel and allow for the light to come in from the back of the home into the music room.
